New Section Traffic Manager Appointed
Mike Shanahan WO2H appointed as Section Traffic Manager –
I am please to appoint Mike WO2H as Section Traffic Manager as Tom Cody WE2G steps down after a long run as STM. Mike has been getting increasingly involved in traffic handling and has many talents that will make his term successful.
In Mike’s own words:
I was first licensed in October of 2012. My first contact was on our local traffic net. Everyone was very friendly on there and I continued to check in there regularly. I also started to check into some HF traffic nets. Wasn’t long after that I became assistant net manager to our local traffic net and net control on other nets such as NYPON and NYSPTEN. From there I applied to become a official traffic relay station and also got set up to become a digital traffic relay station as well. Occasionally you find me checking into the Second Region Net and the Eastern Area nets.
Other than traffic nets I am quite involved in our county ARES and RACES group, where I serve as Secretary and Assistant Emergency Coordinator. When time allows I try to work some DX here and there.
I’d like to thank Tom Cody, WE2G, which I have dealt with regularly on traffic nets for all his years of service. I know Tom has been looking for a replacement. So, with my enjoyment and involvement in NTS, I offered my assistant and here I am today.
Please join me along with all NTS members in welcoming and supporting Mike in his future efforts as STM. All SAR/PSHR/Net Reports (local and Section) from May forward should be sent to Mike.
And with this appointment comes a somewhat sad note in saying goodbye to Tom Cody WE2G as he leaves his STM position. Tom has personally been a great help to the me during the many years he has served. Not only with NTS but as an experienced sounding board in Field Service affairs. My many thinks goes out to Tom and I wish him the very best in his further retirement endeavors.
